Dailies Total1 Multifocal 90 Pack: Buying Multifocal Dailies Online

Dailies Total1 Multifocal is Alcon's premium daily disposable for presbyopia, sold in 90-packs. Here is how multifocal contacts work, what the 90-pack costs per day of wear, and the "add power" detail that makes or breaks the order.

The short version

Premium daily multifocal — worth it only if the add power is right

Total1 Multifocal's water-gradient material is genuinely comfortable for many presbyopic wearers, and the 90-pack is the economical way to buy it. But multifocal success lives or dies on the add power and the fitting — the lens design your fitter selected. Never self-prescribe a multifocal from a single-vision prescription.

What Dailies Total1 Multifocal is

Dailies Total1 Multifocal is Alcon's daily disposable multifocal, built on the same water-gradient material as the single-vision Total1: the lens surface approaches nearly 100% water content while the core stays silicone hydrogel for oxygen flow. The 90-pack is 90 lenses — a 45-day supply per eye, three months for both eyes, eight boxes per year of full-time wear.

How multifocal contacts handle presbyopia

Presbyopia — the age-related loss of near focusing, usually noticeable in the 40s — means one fixed lens power cannot serve both distance and reading. Multifocal contacts put multiple powers in each lens, typically in concentric zones, and your visual system learns to favor the right zone for the task. There is an adaptation period of days to a couple of weeks; night driving halos are the most common early complaint and often fade.

The prescription carries an ADD power (low/medium/high) per eye, chosen at the fitting. Two eyes often get different adds. This is the value most online order errors involve.

The per-day cost reality

Premium dailies are the most expensive modality per day of wear, and multifocal dailies sit at the top of that range. The 90-pack softens the per-lens price versus the 30-pack, and manufacturer rebates on premium Alcon lenses can be significant per box — check current offers before comparing sellers. Eight 90-packs a year is the full-time quantity; part-time wearers (a few days a week) should do the math on actual days worn, not calendar months.

Who should not buy this lens

Anyone without a multifocal fitting for this exact lens. A single-vision contact prescription cannot be converted into a multifocal order — the add power does not exist on it. And some presbyopes never adapt to multifocal optics; if your fitter steered you to monovision or readers instead, that was a clinical judgment, not a sales tactic.

Adaptation is real — and so is non-adaptation

Give a new multifocal fit the full trial period your fitter recommends before judging it. But if distance vision stays meaningfully degraded past that window, go back — not every visual system takes to simultaneous-image optics.

Common questions

What does the ADD power mean?

It is the extra plus power for near vision, selected at your fitting as low, medium, or high per eye. It is the multifocal-specific part of the prescription — without it, the order cannot be filled as a multifocal.

How long does adaptation take?

Most wearers adapt within several days to two weeks. Persistent halos at night or washed-out distance vision beyond that window deserves a follow-up with your fitter.

Can I wear them part-time?

Yes — dailies are ideal for part-time wear since there is no cleaning regimen and no wasted monthly cycle. Many presbyopes wear multifocal dailies on workdays and glasses otherwise.

Are they worth it over readers?

That is personal: multifocals free you from carrying readers and switching glasses, at a higher annual cost and with optical trade-offs. People who dislike readers tend to find the trade worthwhile once adapted.

Match the add power exactly

Multifocal prescriptions add an "ADD" value (low, medium, or high) per eye on top of the distance power. That value is the difference between crisp near vision and an expensive box of blur — copy it exactly from your prescription.
