About Save.ws

Save.ws is an independent publisher of research guides — starting with home services, with more topics on the way.

What we publish

Our home-services guides cover water damage, roofing, heating and cooling, plumbing, pest control and electrical work, city by city. Each guide puts the local public record in one place — flood-insurance claims, hail and wind reports, the age of the housing stock, how homes are heated — and explains what those figures mean for the repair in front of you.

Supplement guides are next: what's in popular products and what the published research does and doesn't support.

How the research is done

Local figures are pulled by script from federal datasets, including the U.S. Census Bureau, NOAA's storm records and FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program. Every figure on a guide links to its source, and each page lists its citations.

When a figure isn't available for a city, the guide leaves it out rather than estimating it. We don't publish local price ranges, because we don't yet have sourced job-cost data to back them. Rankings compare only the cities we cover in that metro area.

Guide text is drafted with AI writing tools from the cited data, then checked by automated audits that block unsourced figures, broken citations and missing disclosures before anything is published.

How we make money

Save.ws is a referral service, not a contractor. If you request help or follow a partner link on a guide, the company that receives your request may pay us a referral fee. That never changes the figures we publish — they come from the public sources we cite.
